Groups up to four people. Children must be school age or older. Children under age 16 receive 20% off. The only physical requirement is to be able to climb in and out of a kayak/canoe. You do not need any paddling experience to go on our offered trips. Paddling instruction is included. There are also options for those unable to paddle to be in the front of the guides canoe.
Yes. Children School age and up can come on these trips. Kids under 16 receive 20% off. We prefer for the adult in the boat of small children to have previous paddling experience. Ultimately, you know your kids the best and what they are and are not capable of. We do have some tips we have learned from experience for those bringing their children:
- Shorter floats. If children are in the group we will cover less miles a day. Kids appreciate stopping, swimming, and throwing rocks. Don't expect to cover 20 miles a day.
- Comfortable Life jacket. In Arkansas it is mandatory that kids 12 and under wear a life jacket while in the boat. Make sure you have one that your child is comfortable wearing for several hours at a time. We highly suggest a test run in the life jacket before our scheduled trip.
- Weather. Kids just don"t handle the cold as well as adults. especially if mixed with some rain. Consider a trip later into the spring or summer if booking with children.
Our team prepares a variety of delicious meals right on the gravel bar. An itinerary of each trip including each meal will be sent to you to review pre trip. If there are issues with any of the meals we will work with you on selecting another option. Allergies, special diets, or special requests will be catered to! In the event of inclement weather not conducive for cooking over a camp fire we will resort to freeze dried meals and non perishables that can be cooked and enjoyed in the dry!
